Sightseeing in Barcelona
The traffic junction Plaça de Catalunya, one of the central places in Barcelona, is the link between the historic center Barri Gòtic (the Gothic Quarter) and the modern planned city L‘Eixample. From there extends the Passeig de Gràcia, a strip mall with exclusive boutiques and famous buildings of the architect Antoni Gaudí – La Casa Millà and Casa Balló.
In the old town, the Barri Gòtic, visitors can find numerous architectural relics of the medieval royal and commercial city such as La Catedral, Cathedral of Saint Eulalia, the Plaça del Rei (King Square), the city museum (Museu d''Història de Barcelona, MUHBA), the Frederic Marès Museum and the Town Hall (Ajuntamento). The most famous street of Barcelona is La Rambla (pl. Les Rambles), a broad avenue that leads from the center to the port. There are many flower and bird sellers, newspaper stands, street musicians, acrobats, cafes and restaurants and the well-known Mercat de la Boqueria and the Plaça Reial, with its arcades and palm trees. Furthermore you can find here Barcelona's biggest opera house Gran Teatre del Liceu.
At the southern end of the Rambla a statue of Christopher Columbus can be seen. With his outstretched arm, pointing out to sea, the imaginary line goes just wide of Mallorca and next encounters mainland Algeria. The Sagrada Familia is one of the best known landmarks of Barcelona and certainly one of the most impressive sights of the city. The church is huge in its dimensions, which is why it is often referred to as the "Cathedral", but without having a bishopric. On 7.11.2010 the Sagrada Familia was consecrated by Pope Benedict XVI and thus making it a basilica.
The construction started in 1882 and should be completed in 2026, according to recent predictions. In 2005, UNESCO put the Nativity façade, the apse façade and the crypt of the Sagrada Família as an extension of the World Heritage monument works of Antoni Gaudí in its model list of world cultural heritage. Barcelona is rich in culture and history. To safe time for the wonderful landmarks you can use the exclusive INTERLINE Barcelona Chauffeur Service – stress-free and comfortable through the city.

In the Gothic Quarter predominantly traditional Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine is served – so you will find here many tapas restaurants.
