Sightseeing in Monaco
Located between the French cities Nice and Menton, Monaco has become, thanks to the amazing scenery and a mild climate, one of the premier tourist destinations and recreation centers.
The old town of Monaco with the Prince's Palace of the Grimaldi family, the winding streets and beautiful cottages are well worth seeing. Other sights are for example the Monaco Cathedral (housing the burial places of past sovereigns), Fort Antoine, Sainte-Dévote Church and Saint-Charles Church.
In addition, the principality is surrounded by a lot of beautiful gardens. The Exotic Gardens and the cave de l'Observatoire are worth a visit in any case. This extraordinary garden boasts many millions of so-called succulent plants and it was planted on the rocky mountainside. However, Monaco is primarily known for the magnificent Casino of Monte Carlo. Another highlight is the Oceanographic Museum. With around 90 aquariums, over 200 species of fish and 4,000 species of marine animals, it is one of the largest oceanic museums.
But the principality is also a notable cultural center. The opera house of Monaco – Opéra de Monaco – was built in 1879 and here were already singing greats such as Enrico Caruso, Feodor Chaliapin, Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti. In addition, Sergei Diaghilev's famous Ballets Russes was founded here in 1911. We are happy to arrange an individual sightseeing tour for you. Find yourself a suitable vehicle from the INTERLINE Monaco limousine fleet and relax while enjoying the beautiful attractions of the city.
Nightlife and Dining
The Monegasque cuisine is a Mediterranean cuisine. Besides fish and meat dishes Italian food is also widespread. Monegasque dishes are mostly prepared with olives, tomatoes and onions.
A typical appetizer is Barbajuan. This is a special type of small fried ravioli. At Christmas time a Christmas Bread (Pain de Noël), on which walnuts are arranged in the shape of a cross around an olive branch, is often served.
