International Monetary Fund (IMF) &
World Bank Group (WBG) Meetings

The congresses of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) take place in spring and fall - but not always together. Although the two organizations work closely together and pursue similar goals, they are two different events.

The IMF Congress organizes a spring and an autumn meeting every year. In April, finance ministers, central bank governors and economic experts from all over the world come together; in October, the focus is on discussing economic and financial issues. These meetings are important for the exchange of ideas, the discussion of economic policy and cooperation between the member countries.

The World Bank Group - including the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) - also holds a spring and an autumn meeting. These meetings provide a platform for discussions on development aid, poverty reduction, infrastructure projects and other topics.

The annual meetings are traditionally held two years in a row in Washington, D.C. and every three years in a different member country of the WBG and the IMF.
